The Cage Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Cage Department operates in accordance with all established WSCE policies, procedures, and Internal Controls. The Cage Manager ensures that the Cage staff perform at an optimal level so that the highest level of guest service is always provided to all guests, internal customers and other outside parties. The Cage Manager follows the guidance of the CEO/General Manager in all aspects of Cage management and oversees Cage operations.
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee Cage functions and safeguard casino bankroll. Work with Senior Management in achieving and maintaining optimal operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Track and monitor Cage performance, including, but not limited to, Exception Reports, Attendance, Cashier Variances and Guest Service.
- Develop and forecast department budget; manage and monitor department expenses resulting from daily operations and payroll.
- Work with other departments to ensure that the Cage meets the needs of all departments and guests.
- Develop training plans for Cage personnel, both new hires and those seeking promotion.
- Ensure that the Cage inventory, including currency, coin, gaming chips, and all forms, documents and records regularly associated with the operation of the Cage are accurate and complete.
- Ensure supplies of cash and coin adequate to meet current business needs are stocked at all times.
- Directly supervise Cage Supervisors, Cage Cashiers and Main Bank Cashiers. This includes, but is not limited to, training, observing, issuing discipline and conducting performance evaluations.
- Issue written and oral instructions to staff. Direct and lead employees to ensure that organizational goals are being met. Handle employee relations issues.
- Participate in formulating and implementing company policies and developing long-range goals and objectives for the Cage Department.
- Manage the delivery and measurement of guest service practices consistent with the company’s core service standards and brand attributes.
- Provide input into the research, development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and processes to ensure the company’s compliance with Tribal, State, Federal and NIGC regulations.
- Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
- Use hiring, training and succession planning processes that encompass the company’s diversity commitment.
- Adhere to the company’s philosophy and ensure that the Cage complies with company policies and procedures.
- Interview candidates for hiring and promotions. Choose candidates based on qualifications and in accordance with the company’s Tribal hiring policies.
- Prepare, review and coordinate work schedules, and assign duties to Cage personnel.
- Find and implement savings whenever that can be done without compromising the safety and integrity of Cage operations.
- Ensure that all Cage employees comply with Title 31 requirements, and that all recorded activity and documentation is complete and accurate.
- Ensure that government forms such as W-2G, W-9, and 1042S are completed correctly.
- Ensure that approved jackpots are paid accurately.
- Ensure compliance with Tribal, State, Federal, and NIGC regulations. Enforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures, MICS, Gaming Regulations and Title 31 requirements.
- Perform the duties of a Supervisor, Main Bank Cashier and/or Cage Cashier as needed.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of all assigned staff and guests.
- Provide a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
- Support hiring and training processes that encompass the company’s diversity commitment.
- Adhere to the company’s philosophy and ensure that the Cage is in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Work with the CEO/General Manager and Human Resources to develop employee training procedures relating to the Cage, BSA Compliance, cashiering and supervising.
- Schedule Cage personnel, ensuring that the Cage is adequately staffed to meet the level of business at all times.
- Ensure that payroll entries for employees are accurate.
- Advise and brief the CEO/General Manager and the Compliance Manager on any issues of concern regarding the Cage and Title 31 compliance.
- Perform other duties and projects as requested.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in combined education and experience.
- One to two years of Casino Cage, Main Bank or other cash handling experience preferred.
- Minimum of one year of Supervisor experience, preferably in a cash handling operation preferred.
- Knowledge of Casino operations.
- Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Will work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

- Excellent communications skills are essential. This includes verbal, written and listening skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, management and guests while providing excellent service to internal and external customers. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employees, management, patrons and outside business contacts.
- Skill in solving practical problems and deal effectively with situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work in a timely, accurate and organized manner.

- Requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in complex situations while maintaining organization goals.
Physical Demands:
- Some lifting and carrying is required. Lifting items weighing as much as 60 pounds may be required, but this should occur rarely, i.e., less than 15% of the time.
- This position requires reaching, manipulating and keyboard operation (typing).
- This position requires sitting, stooping, standing, bending and walking.
- This position requires intense and exacting mental and visual attention.
Working Conditions:
- This job is typically performed under very comfortable working conditions; disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal job performance. However, at times, it requires working in areas where the noise level is high, where there is second hand tobacco smoke while performing intense, complex and very involved tasks with major financial responsibility.
- Must observe and comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of any and all safety equipment provided. Must practice safety at all times.
- Continuous mental and/or visual attention may be required; the work in the Cage can be either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness to monitor the accuracy of each transaction.
Special Requirements:
- Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must submit to and pass a drug/alcohol screening test.
- Must submit to and pass an Oregon State background investigation.
- Proven gaming license eligibility preferred.
