What are the responsibilities and job description for the Slot Technician II position at Indian Head Casino & Plateau Travel Plaza?
Under the direction of the Slot Repair Manager, the Slot Technician II is responsible for ensuring that all machines on the Slot floor function properly and are kept in excellent condition by doing repairs and/or preventative maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the repair and testing of electronic components, products and systems. Trouble shoot and repair Slot machines and related equipment.
- Develop positive customer relations by always being courteous, friendly and efficient when interacting with guests and co-workers from all departments.
- Ensure that all equipment is clean and in proper working order.
- Monitor, investigate, correct and/or repair machine malfunctions of all kinds. Complete repairs, maintenance and documentation in a timely and efficient manner.
- Complete preventative maintenance on all machines and document the process accurately.
- Perform machine moves, conversions and installations as directed.
- Assist other Slot employees and employees from other departments.
- Ensure the security of company assets such as equipment, records and funds.
- Always operate all shop equipment such as hand tool, soldering tools, power tools and electronic test equipment safely and correctly.
- Adhere to all established safety practices and standards.
- Ensure that the Slot floor and related back-of-house areas are clean and orderly at all times.
- Ensure compliance with IGRA, Tribal-State Compact, Tribal Gaming Ordinance, Tribal Gaming Regulations, FinCEN requirements and Indian Head Casino Internal Controls.
- Maintain integrity and professionalism in his/her personal conduct at all times. Must be a role model for others in this area.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior Slot Technical experience of not less than one (1) year preferred, or the completion of an accredited course in Slot Machine Repair or a degree in basic electronics is preferred.
- Good basic math skill; good manual dexterity. Good computer skills
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal law pertaining to Tribal Gaming.
- Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.

Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, management and guests while providing excellent service to internal and external customers. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with department heads, members of the public, regulators, outside auditors and/or vendors.
- Must be able to analyze and solve complex problems that may have non-standard solutions.
- Skill in solving practical problems and deal effectively with situations where only limited standardization exists.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting and carrying is required. Lifting items weighing as much as 60 pounds is required for up to 40% of the time. Occasionally it may be required to lift more than 60 pounds, but this should occur rarely, i.e., less than 15% of the time.
- This position requires reaching, manipulating and keyboard operation (typing).
- This position requires sitting, stooping, standing, bending and walking.
- This position requires intense and exacting mental and visual attention.
Working Conditions:
- This job requires working in areas where the noise level is high, where there are dust, fumes and/or second hand tobacco smoke while performing intense, complex and very involved tasks.
- Must observe and comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of any and all safety equipment provided. Must practice safety at all times.
Special Requirements:
- Must maintain a valid Oregon drivers license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must submit to and pass a drug/alcohol screening test.
- Must submit to and pass an Oregon State background investigation.
Proven gaming license eligibility preferred.
