    Job Summary

    The LADC Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive alcohol and drug counseling services to clients, ensuring adherence to MN State Statutes including Rule 245G. This role involves completing adolescent training under the supervision of an LADC to qualify as an adolescent counselor.

    Essential Functions

  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments and Surveys for adolescent clients.
  • Develop Initial Services Plans for all clients.
  • Maintain regular communication with referents to provide progress updates and consultation for continuing care planning.
  • Assess and develop Individual Abuse Prevention Plans for vulnerable clients as per Program Abuse Prevention Plan criteria.
  • Create individualized treatment plans with specific goals and interventions for each client.
  • Document client progress according to center policies.
  • Collaborate with the Outpatient Clinic Manager and Mental Health Professionals on client treatment and progress.
  • Conduct group counseling and education sessions.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing personalized continuing care plans, including coordinating with external services.
  • Provide resources and support to family members and friends for sober living during and post-treatment.
  • Coordinate with the school system to address academic needs.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to substance use disorders and Co-Occurring Disorders.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Licensure by the State of Minnesota for Alcohol and Drug Counselor in good standing OR Temporary Permit through the State of Minnesota in good standing.
  • Additional 30 hours of classroom instruction or equivalent in adolescent development.
  • At least 150 hours of supervised experience as an adolescent counselor.
  • Understanding of MN State Statutes including Chapter 245G, Chapter 245A, and related sections.
  • Willingness to complete adolescent training and work under supervision to meet requirements for adolescent counseling.
  • Physical Demands

    The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting more than 50 pounds. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations requiring a range of safety and other precautions.
