Type: Tribal Salary Range: $30,713 to $46,070 / Per Year Open Period: 7/1/2016 to 9/30/2016 Summary: The Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation [TCRHCC] is a 73-bed, acute and outpatient regional health system organized as a private nonprofit healthcare organization operating under the Indian Self-Determination Act P.L. 93-638 since September 30, 2002. Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation, a Joint Commission accredited health center, provides services to a 6,000 square mile area and serves as a referral center for the western part of the Navajo and Hopi Reservations. The unique community of Tuba City offers a culturally rich environment. The Native American tribes located and served here are the Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute. This mixture along with Anglo, Hispanic, and African American employees of the hospital and school systems make a pleasantly diverse community.

This position will provide services in a medical mobile unit and the outpatient department as assigned. The incumbent will work under the supervision of a Licensed Independent Practitioner [e.g. M.D., D.O., and N.P]. Initiates and carries out assignments independently or with supervision as needed, handles problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with policies and procedures. Work and competencies are evaluated based on certification requirements and TCRHCC policies and procedure requirements. Work assignments are given orally and/or in writing. The incumbent will refer any unusual problems to the Licensed Independent Practitioner [LIP]. Duties: 1. Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks checks patients in, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts and assists with medical examinations. Responsible for obtaining and recording patient information as assigned per mobile clinical services policy [i.e., vital signs, height, weight, etc.]. 2. Provides care to assigned patients under the direction of a LIP in accordance with established policy. Provides basic care to patients with a variety of conditions, illnesses and/or injuries [i.e. apply and remove dressings, slings, braces, etc apply heat and cold packs assist patient in ambulation, transferring, positioning, etc.]. 3. Assist the LIP in examination of patients by explaining procedures, positioning, draping and assembling instruments and supplies. 4. Performs the following procedures, after approved specific formal training and completion of required competencies. Any required specific training and competency testing required for the procedures done on the medical mobile unit or in an outpatient service will be completed in addition to standard outpatient service training: a] Performs waived testing [e.g., glucometer testing, rapid strep testing and colorimetric urinalysis, etc.] and records the results in compliance with regulations/standards. Complies with the laboratory requirements [CLIA, Joint Commission, etc.] for quality control of waived testing for accuracy and record keeping. b] Obtains bacteriologic specimens such as clean-catch urine specimens and topical cultures. Assists with incision and drainage procedures. c] Performs less complex dressings and treatments without assistance. Assists with cleaning, irrigating and dressing complex wounds. Performs skin care measures. d] Gives injections such as immunizations. 5. Assists with collection and proper care of specimens. Instruct patients in proper collection of urine samples. Prepares samples for analysis, e.g., labels specimen tubes. Routes requisition forms to consultative services, dietary, laboratory and radiology as needed. 6. Shares the responsibility for reporting observations by observing the patient’s conditions and reactions, and by keeping the provider informed of changes in clinical condition. 7. Schedules and monitors patient appointments may coordinate routine office like activities and administrative functions in support of mobile clinical services will work with Division of Telemedicine to insure delivery of scheduled telemedicine services. Shares the responsibility of maintenance of clinical records. 8. Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. Prepares transfer packets. 9. Maintains a courteous and professional manner in contact with patients, family, and other clients. Assists in answering telephones and supplying routine information per policy. 10. Performs general non-direct patient care duties at the site-based clinics including cleaning, arranging, and restocking supply cabinets from supplies cleaning and sorting supplies, instruments and equipment calling attention to deficiencies in supplies and equipment cleaning refrigerators and assisting with maintenance of temperature logs and maintains a clean and safe patient environment. 11. Participates in performance improvement activities and data management responsibilities. Participates in relevant committees and meetings regarding the mobile clinical services or outpatient service[s]. 12. Assists by utilizing computer system to make patient appointments, entering immunizations, follow-up on laboratory and radiological exams, or other computer functions as required by mobile clinical services or outpatient department. 13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: ? Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent ? Medical Assistant or equivalent clinical training ? Must have a valid driver’s license ? Must have BLS certification Certification: Must be a current Certified Medical Assistant offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants [AAMA].
