KPHC is seeking one full-time Family Practice Physician to work at the Santo Domingo Health Center. Santo Domingo Health Center operation hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Position Details: The Family Practice Physician is responsible for providing direct patient care at the Santo Domingo Health Center, including collaborating with community-based health personnel and coordinating health care with health providers and the Santo Domingo Pueblo Health Programs. Duties: Essential Duties, Functions & Responsibilities: - Patient Care o Treats full range of family practice cases, referring only the more difficult specialty cases and those requiring in-patient care services. o Performs family practice diagnostic and treatment procedures independently. - Community and Preventive Health o Functions as part of the health care team along with the CHN, Pharmacy Practioner, P.A., Dental Staff, Clinical Nurse, Clerk, Nutritionist and Health Educator, as well as other community-based health personnel (i.e. CHR, WIC, EMT’s, etc.). o Participates in on-going training of Health Center staff. o Coordinates medical care provided in the Santo Domingo Pueblo. o Maintains communication with Santo Domingo Pueblo members and tribal officials, providing medical representation at the Tribal and Community meetings, as required. - Professional o Maintains patient records in the Problem Oriented Medical Record format utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR). o Provides patient education on specific treatment as well as in general preventive care. o Reviews patient charts for quality of care and performs other quality assurance assessments in the Santo Domingo Health Center. o Provides reports to the medical staff regarding Santo Domingo Health Center activities, needs and work data. o Assists the Health Center Director in arranging for health assessments for specific groups (i.e. Head start, Preschool, School Sports, and Firefighters). Assesses health maintenance needs for chronic groups (i.e. diabetic, hypertensive, pediatric and adult medicine). Provides care to prenatal, well child, post partum and other special patient groups. o Maintains a current professional certification and licensure to practice through participation in appropriate programs of continuing education. - Administrative o Observes and abides by the by-laws of the Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation and the Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. o Completes, appropriately utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR), data entry of each patient visit(s) and completes and/or records on other required forms. o Adheres and complies with all Santo Domingo Health Center’s policies and procedures, rules and regulations. o Coordinates leave arrangements with other clinical providers so as to have minimal impact on the delivery of health care services. Qualifications: Experience: - A minimum of three years experience working in a healthcare facility, hospital, rural clinic or health center. Extensive knowledge and skills in assessing, evaluating and taking measures in different and sometimes difficult situations. Education: - Must have a current medical license to practice medicine.
