This position performs a variety of digital diagnostic studies utilizing Computed Radiographic (CR), portable digital Computer Radiologic and ancillary digital computer equipment in support of the hospital services. Performs MRI procedures diagnosis of illness or injuries. Participates in cross-training activities in different modalities as required to support the departments' needs, to include, but not limited to, General radiology. Schedules patients for routine radiographic, Ultrasound, CT studies and Mammographic examinations utilizing provided protocol both inside and outside this facility. Accurately & responsibly requests, registers, modifies and edits case study data utilizing the Resource & Patient Management System (RPMS) software and strives to maintain the integrity of this Radiology Information System (RIS) database while participating in the training of providers and other users in the proper use of the RPMS radiology package. Consults with Providers as may be required. Performs clerical functions required of the service. Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly MRI trailer/room and patient areas. Evaluates new products and equipment for possible future purchases. Researches, develops and formulates new techniques and procedures for use in the MRI Department. Utilizes Picture Archive & Communication (PAC's) system hardware & software in the manipulation and routing of digital imagery in accordance with departmental protocol. Maintains PACs system integrity by recognizing and troubleshooting system failures within the telecommunications environment. Consults with Radiologists as required facilitating accurate readings of digital image from inception through reporting. Reviews new developments in the field and recommends to the department supervisor those which would improve the operation of the radiology section. Recognizes and reports or initiates maintenance requests of malfunctioning or intermittently failing equipment in accordance with established protocol. Participates in departmental QA/QC programs and technique development programs. Participates in Performance Improvement activities, keeps abreast of the latest and current technical literature and maintains accreditation through continuing education. Participates in any or all required activities in support of the mission statement, performance contracts and Medical Imaging Program. Keeps abreast of changes through annual review of the hospitals Safety, Infection Control, and Policies & Procedure Manuals. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of direct work experience. EDUCATION: Radiology Certification from an AMA accredited school of Radiology Technology. CERTIFICATE: State Certification in Diagnostic Radiology. Valid American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain certification.
