Type: Tribal Salary Range: $80,956 to $121,434 / Per Year Open Period: 1/25/2015 to 1/25/2016 Summary: Diagnose, manage, and treat conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system of individuals across the age spectrum in a high-risk population. Examine eyes and visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment. May prescribe pharmaceutical drugs to treat specific eye conditions. Duties: 1. Provides direct care to patients. 2. Refers patients requiring complex medical surgery or services to the appropriate medical specialty. 3. Provides vision and eye care education and counseling to patients. 4. Provides optometric and eye specialty clinics 5. Develops and monitors the Health Center eye care budget. 6. Devises and implements projects, programs and standards for investigation and control of particular eye hazards or vision problems. 7. Supervises department functions and staff and provides orientation and in-service training and coordinates all professional continuing education for eye care personnel. 8. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, meetings, and workshops. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Doctor of Optometry degree (O.D.) accredited by the Council on Optometric Education. Current license to practice optometry in the State of New Mexico. Two years clinical experience in optometry. Successful completion of residency program preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s policy.
