Type: Tribal Salary Range: $46,163 to $73,860 / Per Year Open Period: 2/5/2015 to 2/5/2016 Summary: The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising nursing care/services for the Jemez Health and Human Services Department. The Charge Nurse provides leadership and works to maintain a general attitude of team work and patient care focus. Incumbent works directly with the Ambulatory Nurse Manager, Medical Director and other key positions on a daily basis. This position reports to the Ambulatory Nurse Manager and/or Medical Director. Duties: 1. Execute comprehensive nursing care activities utilizing the nursing process. 2. Supervise Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs), students, and external agency personnel. 3. Make assignments in accordance with established written JHHS, IHS, and State Nurse Practice guidelines. 4. Assume authority to make changes within the nursing functional area and work assignments of staff which are deemed not within the employees’ scope of practice or ability. 5. Adjust workload to accommodate changes in healthcare needs. 6. Devote at least 60% of the time to direct patient care activities. 7. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Registered nurse in State of New Mexico. Bachelor’s degree preferred. CPR certification, or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of hire. A minimum of two years experience in specific duties & responsibilities in a lead nurse capacity. Practical knowledge of nursing and general health program’s systems and practices with a solid grounding in basic administrative management principles and practices. Knowledge and understanding the principles, procedures, and associated regulations and standards for the delivery of a community-oriented health care delivery system.
