What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Starter/Ambassador position at Indian Hills Country Club?
About Us: Indian Hills Country Club is family-oriented private country club located in East Cobb County. The club features 27 holes of golf, open seven days per week, with extensive practice facilities. There are also eight raquet courts, three swimming pools, and a beautiful clubhouse featuring excellent dining and year-round social events.
The Starter/Ambassador is an extremely responsible position to assure the orderly flow of play in accordance with reserved tee times. The Starter is responsible for coordinating all play on the course, including the coordinating of all play of the various associations and the tournaments conducted.
- Provide welcoming “first contact” with each member/guest or groups of members/guests and ensure they have an enjoyable experience
- Prevent players from becoming late in their starting rotation.
- Assist members without games in finding appropriate games.
- Maintain a sufficient supply of scorecards and pencils. Keep a supply of towels, scorecards, and tees available.
- Keep a record of play and golf carts used each day. Inspect the condition of golf carts with specific attention to their cleanliness and appearance.
- A pace of play of 4 hours and 20 minutes should be maintained for every group.
- Carts off paths are to use the 90° rule only: handicap flags from handicap flag list only.
- Enforce the facility rules and regulations to include the golf course dress code policy including (for men: hats must face forward; shirts must have a collar and be tucked in at all times; for women: shirts must either have a collar or sleeves)
- Ambassadors will carry with them at all times a first aid kit, AED, and two-way radio.
- Be prepared for inclement weather; understand inclement weather procedures and communicate with the golf shop, as necessary.
This job operates in an outdoor environment. This role routinely uses standard golf equipment and deals with weather and environmental conditions.
Preferably, but not required: Prior golf operations experience, one year or prior experience in a service-related business (i.e., sales, etc.). The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
