What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Indian Hills Country Club?
Job Summary:
Under general supervision of the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Managers, the Lifeguard is responsible for implementing all water safety policies and procedures, as well as pool cleaning and maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vacuums pool bottom; empties automatic skimmer; skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use.
- Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
- Administers to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers.
- Maintains amenities in and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers.
- Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager or Instructors.
- Enforces rules of conduct.
- Organizes and monitors pool games at all times; suggests pool side games.
- Enforces diving rules at all times.
- Places rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning and at the end of the day returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard locker.
- Straightens the pool and deck areas during shift and at the end of the day.
- Prepares and takes down lifeguard stand at the beginning and end of day.
- Moves tables and chairs as needed for variety of events under direction of Pool Manager and Operations Team.
- Maintains all necessary records determined by the Pool Manager.
Qualifications:
- Lifeguard certification required
- Customer service skills
- Time management and organization skills
- Attention to detail and punctuality
Education:
- High School student in good standing
Experience:
- Previous lifeguard experience preferred
- Previous customer service experience preferred
Working Conditions:
- Part time seasonal
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
- outside work with frequent sun exposure
