Job Title: Legal Assistant
Salary: $65,000

Availability: Immediate, Full-Time
Indian Legal Assistance Program (ILAP) provides criminal legal services to low-income clients across five counties in northeastern Minnesota, and civil legal services to eligible St. Louis County residents. ILAP has a proud history of advocating for the local Indigenous community as well as serving all individuals who meet the program's economic eligibility criteria.
Position Overview
ILAP is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to support attorneys in both civil and criminal (adult and juvenile) cases. The ideal candidate will assist with case management, client and witness interviews, legal research, and drafting legal documents. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with attorneys on case strategy, contacting courts and clients, conducting investigative tasks, and advocating on behalf of clients in administrative proceedings.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in and ability to work with low-income and Indigenous communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and general computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and perform well under pressure.
- Valid Driver’s License
