SUMMARY:
Responsible to provide administrative, technical and supervisory support for special education programs and service delivery throughout the District. This is a full-time, 12 month position, starting on 07/01/2025.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
2. Responsible for evaluations of Student Services administrators.
3. Ensures compliance of all federal and state laws, regulations and grants concerning special education programs for the District.
4. Write and file all federal and state grants concerning special education programs for the District.
5. Serve as District Records Coordinator.
6. Gather, tabulate and verify statistics for state and federal reporting in accordance with grant contracts and state and federal guidelines.
7. Oversee extended school year services, ensuring appropriate staffing, program content and resources.
8. Collaborate with other appropriate administrators to oversee the early childhood program.
9. Assist to hire and train employees, assign, review and check work, eliminate ordinary difficulties, enforce organizational policies, establish performance standards, and evaluate employee performance.
10. Assume responsibility for various District-wide policies regarding privacy, discipline, inclusion, placement and medication.
11. Provide leadership for budgeting and policy development for special education, vocational and transitional services programs.
12. Represent the District at various parent, community, civic or governmental organizations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Thorough knowledge of current trends in research and practices in public education.
2. Demonstrated competence in leadership, management, interpersonal relations and communications.
3. Ability to maintain and instill high standards of ethics and integrity.
4. Knowledge of teaching methods, educational pedagogy and behavioral management methods successful in school environments at all levels.
5. Knowledge of administration and supervision concepts.
6. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education, students, and staff, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, IDEA, and FERPA.
7. Ability to organize and coordinate work.
8. Ability to develop and implement projects.
9. Ability to prepare oral or written communications for distribution to the Board of Education, employees, students and parents.
10. Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
11. Ability to ensure that responsible administrators address student disciplinary matters in an effective, consistent and fair manner in accordance with applicable law and Board policies.
12. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
13. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
14. Ability to plan and implement professional development for administrators and teaching staff.
15. Ability to anticipate and address problems that may arise in a resourceful and consistent manner.
16. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Works in standard office and school building environment
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE:
Illinois Professional Educator License with Director of Special Education endorsement
Solid and diverse administrative experience, preferably both as a school building and central office administrator
Prior successful Special Education experience
EQUIPMENT:
Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines and telephone.

Works in standard office and school building environment
