What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEL and Academic Coach (Anticipated Grant Pending for 2024-2025 School Year) position at Indian Prairie School District 204?
- Consult with parents, teachers, district mental health staff, administrators and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
- Support students through a variety of service delivery models including individual, small group and classroom.
- Communicate with families and provide support in locating and receiving resources.
- Participate or facilitate meetings or activities related to school or student needs as necessary.
- Help establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing.
- Meet with Teachers, Teacher Assistants and other specialists to discuss individual student's modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues, interventions or problems. Work collaboratively to ensure individual student's needs are met.
- Actively participate on problem solving and intervention teams to facilitate early involvement and resolution to learning or behavioral problems, as needed.
- Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
- Participate and lead when appropriate staff learning and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth.
- Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation, open houses or conferences.
- Plan and instruct students on District and state standards aligned curriculum.
- Develop lesson plans and goals that meet District expectations.
