Building Support Specialist I: $19.14-$29.67 / hour / $37,323.00-$57,856.50 annually
Building Support Specialist II: $20.10 – $31.16 / hour or $39,195.00 – $60,762.00 annually
Building Support Specialist III: $21.11 – $32.72 / hour or $41,164.50 – $63,804.00 annually
Performs a variety of Permit Technician functions with building division activities such as permits, inspections, contractor licensing, and document records. This is a clerical position, working under the general direction of the Building Official.
- Receive, process, and issue various types of permits and collect fees related tosuch permits.
- Provide excellent customer service while interacting with high volume of customersby phone and inperson.
- Assists contractors, owner builders, and the public with permitting related questions/issues.
- Answering phone calls and emails regarding permitting related questions.
Building Support Specialist I:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by two years of related customer service work experience, or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by two years of related customer service work experience, or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience. Minimum 1 year experience as a building support specialist or other directly related building/permitting/construction office work experience.
Building Support Specialist III:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by two years of related customer service working experience, or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience. Minimum 1 year experience as a building support specialist or other directly related building/permitting construction office work experience.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
Building Support Specialist I:
None
Building Support Specialist II:
None
Building Support Specialist III:
ICC Permit Technician Certified required
Must possess excellent customer service skills and have the ability to multi-task.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with staff and public.
Knowledge of Building Permit process, as it relates to a Permit Technician’s role.
Must possess good organizational skills, be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
Knowledge of and ability to understand construction documents, and general construction terms.
Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically, Outlook & Word.
Ability to use various office equipment, including personal computers, scanners and multi-line phone.
Must possess typing/keyboard skills, with the ability to perform data entry and operate various computer software programs.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:The successful candidate for this position can expect work to be performed inside an office environment.
