The class specification for the position of Human Resources Specialist requires the performance of a wide range of clerical and administrative duties which may include, but would not be limited to, processing personnel actions/payroll changes, applicant processing, new hire orientation, benefits administration, FRS liaison, employee separation tasks and performing other assigned operational roles. Additional job duties may be associated with updating and maintaining a broad range of employee records such as: personnel actions/payroll, employee benefits, FDLE data, leave records, personnel records, and worker’s compensation claims.
Job Prerequisites and Minimum Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Preference given to individuals with experience in spreadsheet and database applications.
· Prompt and regular job attendance is an essential job function.

· Process employment applications.
· Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
· Keep employee records up-to-date by processing status changes.
· Process personnel action forms, assure proper approvals, and disseminate approved forms.
· Prepare paperwork required to place employee on payroll and establish personnel file.
· Coordinate health, life and disability insurance enrollments and communicates with service providers.
· Assure compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing paperwork as directed.
· Receive, record, and process insurance premium information.
· Ability to review, prepare and disseminate family leave (FMLA) requests and worker’s compensation information.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working Conditions:

· The job requirements include sitting, standing and walking.
· Movements associated with the duties and responsibilities are: bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balancing and pushing/pulling as necessary.
· The weight that could be lifted during the course of performing the duties and responsibilities are from zero to 50 pounds depending on the activity.
· The repetitive foot movements required include both right and left foot 3 - 4 hours a day.
· The hands used for repetitive action would be affected by whether the individual was left or right handed. It includes simple/light grasping 7 hours a day, firm/strong grasping 1 - 2 hours a day and fine dexterity 7 hours a day.
· The job may require working in changes in temperature and humidity.
