Indian River State College is seeking a dedicated Adjunct -Medical Laboratory Technology to join our Health Science Division. JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction, the instructor is responsible for organizing, administering, continuously reviewing, planning, and developing clinical experiences for students enrolled in the program. Instruct and evaluate theoretical knowledge, psychomotor skills and affective competencies in program.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with faculty and staff in the IRSC programs in Health Science and with other IRSC program areas;
- Effectively instruct in didactic, laboratory and/or clinical courses in the Medical laboratory Technology program;
- Evaluate student progress through examinations and observations of performance;
- Support student success through individual counseling and advising;
- Maintain appropriate documentation of related student records
- Maintain course related equipment and supplies;
- Participate in department, division, and general faculty meetings;
- Maintain own professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs;
- Adhere to all IRSC policies and procedures.
- Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from a regionally accredited college or university or related field and;
- Two years (2) years teaching experience; and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the clinical lab setting (aligns with National accrediting Agency of Clinical Laboratory Services (NAACLS)
- Current Florida licensure as a Medical Technologist;
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written;
- Teaching experience with diverse populations and recent healthcare industry experience are also preferred;
- Appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS)
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills utilizing an instructional internet platform;
- Demonstrating the ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of student population and a willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process
- Flexibility for teaching day and/or evening classes
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard respiratory equipment and office machines, such as, computer, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
The candidate must be academically and experientially qualified to fulfill the roles and responsibilities associated with this position.
