JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining websites using Drupal and WordPress as primary platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of back-end technologies, integration with enterprise systems such as Everbridge, Workday, and Banner, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, user-centric digital experiences.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize the back-end of college websites built on Drupal and WordPress platforms.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of back-end functionalities with user interfaces.
- Integrate and manage enterprise systems, including Everbridge, Workday, and Banner, ensuring smooth data exchange and system compatibility.
- Design and implement APIs and web services to support various institutional needs.
- Ensure website performance, scalability, and security by following best practices and conducting regular updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, bugs, and errors in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular testing and quality assurance to maintain the integrity and reliability of digital platforms.
- Stay updated on emerging web development trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance the college’s digital presence.
- Provide documentation, training, and technical support to internal teams as needed.
- Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience as a back-end developer, with a strong portfolio of Drupal and WordPress projects.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as PHP, Python, or JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of database management systems, including MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience integrating and working with enterprise systems such as Everbridge, Workday, and Banner.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Strong knowledge of web security principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms and environments.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and compliance (e.g., WCAG).
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Certifications in relevant technologies or platforms.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one that involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
