Are you a certified, experienced medical assistant or healthcare professional with a passion for teaching and inspiring the next generation? We are looking for a dedicated individual to deliver a comprehensive medical assisting curriculum to high school students in grades 9-12. This role prepares students for entry-level positions in healthcare through instruction aligned with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) standards.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for delivering a comprehensive medical assisting curriculum to high school students in grades 9-12. This role prepares students for entry-level positions in healthcare through instruction aligned with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) standards. The ideal candidate is a certified, experienced medical assistant or healthcare professional with a passion for teaching and student engagement.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty (20) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement a CTE Medical Assisting program that aligns with FLDOE standards, focusing on clinical skills, patient care, medical terminology, and administrative procedures.
- Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that cover topics such as vital signs, infection control, medical office operations, patient interaction, and healthcare ethics.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles, including demonstrations, simulations, and interactive learning.
- Guide students in the practice of clinical procedures such as taking vital signs, administering injections, conducting lab tests, and performing basic patient care tasks.
- Ensure that students develop proficiency in using healthcare equipment and following safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment that simulates a professional healthcare setting, promoting a culture of safety and professionalism.
- Prepare students to pass industry-recognized certification exams, such as the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
- Assess and track student progress through tests, projects, and practical skills evaluations in line with FLDOE requirements.
- Provide feedback and support for student growth, identifying areas for improvement and helping students prepare for real-world medical assistant roles.
- Support students in developing the professional skills needed for healthcare roles, including effective communication, time management, and patient empathy.
- Encourage career exploration by connecting students with resources, local medical facilities, and information on healthcare pathways.
- Engage in school events and community partnerships to highlight student achievements and the Medical Assisting program.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High diploma or the equivalent
- Valid Florida Teacher Certification in Health Science Education or eligibility for certification in Career and Technical Education (CTE) with a focus on Health Sciences.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience as a medical assistant or healthcare professional. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical and administrative healthcare skills, proficiency in FLDOE standards, and excellent communication and instructional abilities.
- The position includes classroom teaching and hands-on clinical instruction in a simulated healthcare lab setting.
- Adherence to safety and health regulations is essential to ensure a secure learning environment
