Material Handler

We are seeking diligent individuals to become part of our team in the role of Material Handler. As a member of the IAF team, you will be assigned to either our Conveyance or Shipping area. Your responsibilities will include moving coil wire to the machine side, transferring containers of parts from one process to another, or picking and packing orders based on customer demands. The current vacancies are mainly for the 3rd Shift, with the following hours:

  • Starting wage for this position is $21.00 hr. shift differential. 3rd shift is 10:30pm to 7:00am wage $23.00                               
  • Completing an initial training period on a day shift 6:30a.m to 3:00 p.m. for 4 to15 weeks will be required even if you were hired for night shift.  

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Willingness to learn, and have an open mind set.
  • Able to walk for long periods of time.
  • Use pallet jacks or motorized cart to move product or material to next process. Or have the ability to operate the electric train. (we will train)
  • Able to lift anywhere from 50lbs to 75lbs continuously.
  • Must be able to match different numbers to lot tags.
  • Understand different locations and cycle times.
  • Have some knowledge on how to use a scanner. 
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.

What we’ll do together.

Here at Indiana Automotive Fasteners, we produce excellent quality fasteners from start to finish. We operate from coil wire being brought in from our suppliers for our cold forming heading process, to our thread rolling process, the fasteners then go to our heat treatment process where it changes the molecule structure of the fasteners, then the fasteners would be going to our plating lines which are barrel sink (electro plating) or our geomat coding to prevent rust prevention. As a tool room repair team member, you would play a big role in our cold forming, and thread rolling process. You will repair the tooling for those areas for IAF to maintain make good fasteners for our customers.

  • Six months of related experience and or training, one- year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of a pallet jack, or motorized cart
  • Knowledge on usage of a RF Scanner
  • Good communication 
  • Organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to lift container up to 25lbs (repetitively) to 75lbs (occasionally)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, use of hands, walk, bend, and or twist
  • Ability to walk long distances
  • Ability to work 8-12 hours daily (including weekend overtime based on production requirements)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear.  The Team Member is occasionally required to stand and use hands, walk, bend, lift, or twist.  The Team Member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.  The Team Member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.  The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  The Team Member must be able to lift a container of fasteners weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit; to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel; and to talk or hear.
