Indiana Automotive Fasteners, Inc., has been a stable employer in the Greenfield community for 27 years, producing excellent fasteners for the automotive industry.

IAF is one of 15 US manufacturers that can train and offer opportunities in multiple manufacturing processes. All of our processes are under one roof, including Cold-Forming (Machine Set Up Operator), Thread Rolling (Machine Set Up Operator), Heat Treatment (Machine Operator), Electroplating (Machine Operator), Coating (Machine Operator), and Material Handling to our Shipping Department.

A Day in the Life of an IAF Team Member?

As a Machine Operator, you will operate up to 3 machines to our safety, quality, and production standards. In this position, you will verify parts are correct for the process and load fasteners into the machine, understand how the process works, and keep up with the production cycle times of the machine(s). Once the cycle is complete, then the parts are unloaded and inspected according to IAF quality standards. There are chemicals used in the machine processing such as caustic, acids, zinc, paint-like coatings, and oil. As a machine operator in these areas there are different chemical smells.

You would Thrive in this position if: You have a willingness to learn new skills. Or if you already have experience as a machine operator in the manufacturing industry. Experienced with maintaining cycle times. Utilizing gauges to perform quality checks, as well as visual inspection. If you are mechanically inclined with experience in troubleshooting malfunctioning machines, or a desire to learn those skills.

• Training on 1st 6:30 am-3:00 pm 4 to 6 weeks in our Global Training Center, where we train you basic knowledge of the machine, then move to the department to apply basic skills taught in the Global Training Center on the floor.

Qualification/ Requirement

• Six months of related experience and or training, one-year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Machine aptitude (preferred)
• Troubleshooting experience (preferred)
• Good communication
• Organization and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as a team
• Ability to lift container up to 25lbs (repetitively) to 100lbs (occasionally)
• Ability to stand for extended periods, use of hands, walk, bend, and or twist
• Ability to work 12 hours (including Saturdays and Sundays

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
