QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed as a RN, LPN or CPM in the State of Indiana
- Experience in intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal care preferred
- Current BLS and NRP
- Aligned with Birth Center philosophy
- Self-directed and committed to providing superior care and education to families and assisting the Certified Nurse Midwives in the provision of care
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The PRN Birth Assistant provides care for the client and family during labor, birth, and postpartum period at birth center. The Birth Assistant may also participate in the provision of extended postpartum care, client education programs, community outreach, and center operations in collaboration with the Administrator and/or Director of Midwifery.
Summary
As a PRN - RN Birth Assistant, you will be integral in providing exceptional care during the birthing process, reporting directly to the midwife on call. Your role involves utilizing core nursing skills such as patient assessment, intermittent auscultation for monitoring labor contractions, encouraging movement and hydrations, and offering one-on-one care to families seeking low intervention birth. Other skills such as IV insertion, and catheterization are sometimes used, but is not routine care for each client.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
