What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth and Family Programs Communications Coordinator position at Indiana Black Expo, Inc.?
Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of content for web, collateral and presentations
- Assist in developing online and offline promotions
- Edits, proofreads and reviews items before distribution such as media releases, blogs and social media content
- Assist with developing and managing the external positioning and image efforts
- Maintain media list and databases and update lists and databases consistently
- Work with all departments to coordinate and implement the communications and public relations initiatives for the organizations and all its programs and events
- Provide coordination of print material for internal and external communications
- Schedule photographers for all IBE programs and events and assist in scheduling interview for IBE staff
- Work with all departments to develop, update and manage the website, online community and social network accounts
- Establish and maintain relationships with key media to ensure consistent publicity
- Maintain, manage and serve as day-to-day external public and press contact for all communication inquiries
- Assist staff, consultants and contractors in developing and executing a strategic PR and social media plan
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned Youth and Family programs and Summer Celebration and Circle City Classic events (including coordination and posting of social media posts, blogs, and newsletters from award recipients)

- Compiles and prepares correspondence and reports relating to, and on behalf of the Sr. Vice President, Marketing and Community Engagement and Director of Youth and Family Programs
- Edits, proofreads, and reviews items before distribution of the Director of Youth and Family Program’s and /or Sr. Vice President, Marketing and Community Engagement signature
- Assists with the creation and preparation of presentations (particularly PowerPoint presentations)
Educations/Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with experience in Communications, Journalism, and Marketing
- Ability to be a strategic, critical thinker with strong team and relationship-building skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and fluid environment
- Ability to work within budget constraints and develop creative solutions when challenged
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Skilled in creating, editing, and promoting written and visual content
- Ideal candidate will have experience in the management of social media exchanges across multiple platforms
- Strong acumen with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Slack, Canva, or related software required
