Large Bank Financial Examiner (Hybrid)

Indiana BMV
Indianapolis, IN Full Time
POSTED ON 2/21/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/20/2025

The Job

The agency seeks motivated and high-performing candidates to assess the financial condition and risk mitigation strategies of some of Indiana’s largest and most complex financial institutions.  Individuals in this role become immersed in complex financial transactions, risk management and mitigation strategies, enterprise risk management programs, corporate governance practices, and the assessment of financial performance in ever-evolving and growing financial institutions.  The large and unique financial institution portfolio encompasses financial institutions with product lines and business strategies that may differ from a traditional community bank platform and / or, due to the financial institution’s size, require a different and more in-depth regulatory oversight process.  Examiners will interact routinely with senior management officials of Indiana’s largest financial institutions and serve as a critical contributor to an interagency team.

An ideal candidate would have, at a minimum, a basic background in banking, financial services, or risk management, where they have assessed risk management programs, financial performance, and / or have experience in conceptualizing inherent and residual risks in financial activities.

About The Indiana Department of Financial Institutions :

The Indiana Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) works to promote the growth and prosperity of Indiana communities through effective and common-sense regulation.  The agency’s mission is to ensure depositors' funds are safe while providing an Indiana-centric perspective and expertise in financial institution regulation rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

Examiners at the agency work in the dynamic and ever-evolving financial services industry, often working with entities on the leading edge of market participation.  The agency has adopted a hybrid work environment, with examiners working on-site at financial institutions, in the agency’s main office, and from their homes.  While a hybrid work schedule is in place, the majority of activities are conducted on-site at the financial institutions in the portfolio, with some overnight travel necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports :

This role will not have any direct reports and will report to the Large and Unique Institutions Senior Field Manager.
