Job Description:
We are a reputable intensive outpatient addiction program. As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals who are navigating the challenges of addiction recovery. Drawing from your own personal experience with recovery, you will provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to help individuals achieve and maintain sobriety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Peer Support: Utilize your lived experience with addiction and recovery to offer empathetic peer support to individuals who are currently in recovery or seeking support for substance use disorders.
- Individualized Assistance: Provide one-on-one support to clients, helping them set and achieve recovery goals, develop coping strategies, and navigate challenges related to their recovery journey.
- Group Facilitation: Lead or co-facilitate support groups and recovery meetings, creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build a sense of community.
- Resource Referral: Connect clients with relevant community resources, such as substance abuse treatment programs, mental health services, housing assistance, employment support, and other social services, to address their holistic needs.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals in recovery, both within the organization and in the broader community, to promote access to quality care, reduce stigma, and increase awareness of recovery resources.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Prepare reports as needed to track program effectiveness and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Lived experience with addiction and successful long-term recovery required.
- Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- Certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of addiction recovery principles, peer support best practices, and community resources.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all interactions.
