Overview
TC Harris School & Academy is seeking an ELA teacher to join their Education team! The ELA Teacher provides education services to students in an alternative school setting. The teacher will work with the Special Education team in the daily lesson implementation and coordination.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
A Teacher provides education that aligns with T.C. Harris curriculum and is responsible for the goals established within the student's IEP as well as progressing/reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Certified by the State of Indiana Department of Education in English/Language Arts Education.
- Must be certified for the academic level of functioning and classes taught.
- Experience in working with students that have intellectual disabilities or significant behavioral needs is preferred.
A Day in the Life of a Teacher at T.C. Harris:
At T.C. Harris, our teachers experience a structured and balanced workday that allows for meaningful instruction and professional growth without the burden of grading homework at home.
Classroom Time: Teachers are actively engaged with students in the classroom from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM each day, providing structured learning experiences tailored to each student's IEP goals.- Specials: Each day includes one to two special classes (e.g., art, music, or physical education), where teachers drop students off and have additional planning time.
- Prep Time: Throughout the day, teachers have designated prep periods to organize lesson plans, collaborate with colleagues, and prepare materials.
- Lunch Hour: Teachers receive a dedicated lunch break to recharge and connect with fellow staff members.
- Special Events: Teachers are required to participate in 1-2 special events per school year, contributing to school-wide programs and student enrichment activities.
- Year-Round Learning: Unlike traditional school settings, our teachers work throughout the summer, providing consistency and continued growth opportunities for our students.
This structured schedule allows our teachers to focus on impactful classroom engagement while maintaining a healthy work-life balance—no taking home stacks of homework to grade!

- Salary Range: From $47,000 annually; Final salary based on level of education years of experience
