What are the responsibilities and job description for the Claims Representative position at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance?
We are looking for someone who can:
- Process first notice of losses and living benefit claims.
- Determine the need for, requesting, and verifying the appropriate documentation to determine if a claim is payable.
- Respond to emails, phone calls, and faxes in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate with stakeholders regarding claims to determine if an investigation is needed, and to conduct and/or coordinate the investigation.
- Engage in critical thinking and problem-solving to determine if a claim is payable.
Minimum requirements for success:
- A High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Intermediate math and/or accounting skills.
- Willingness to learn about life products, policies, and provisions.
- Ability to learn and retain knowledge of regulatory guidelines at the state and federal levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen actively and attentively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Company processing systems.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Willingness to learn general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Preferred requirements for success:
- At least 2 years of Life and Disability Claims experience.
- A working knowledge of life products, policies, and provisions.
- Ability to resolve inquiries related to claims transactions, to work independently, display patience and understanding.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of claim functions.
- Ability to research, analyze, and resolve system errors or discrepancies.
- Capacity to create and edit procedures/job aids.
