The Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) is one of the nation's largest health information exchange organizations. IHIE has been around for over a decade, with its roots dating back 30 years. Summary: The Paralegal will report to IHIE's VP, General Counsel & Privacy Officer and will help IHIE ensure its operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. The Paralegal will be responsible for compliance and risk management activities and legal support.
Essential Functions:
Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitor laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Coordinate and maintain IHIE's compliance program, including
- Develop, implement, and maintain IHIE's policies and procedures,
- Collaborate with stakeholders on development of procedures and policy implementation
- Provide education to workforce on new and revised policies and procedures
- Enforce IHIE policies and procedures, as needed.
- Maintain records of compliance activities,
- Manage documentation for compliance audits and reviews,
- Conduct routine, enterprise wide, and focused compliance and risk assessments,
- Interact with external auditors and assessors on matters related to audits of the organization's internal controls,
- Coordinate implementation of any corrective action plans as a result of internal or external audits, and
- Manage IHIE's enterprise risk management process.
- Develop, implement, and maintain IHIE's policies and procedures,
- Support accreditation and certification efforts, such as HITRUST certification.
- Assist Privacy Officer in activities related to privacy or security complaints, security incidents, and breach investigations.
- Coordinate response to customer-driven risk assessments.
- Investigate and respond to internal and external allegations of violations of law, regulation and policy, including IHIE policies, by the organization, employee, or contractor.
- Assist with annual and periodic privacy and security training and other compliance education.
- Assist General Counsel with legal matters, including
- Contract review and management,
- Legal research and writing, and
- Administrative tasks.

- Paralegal Certificate preferred
- At least 5 years paralegal experience with a minimum of 3 years related to compliance and risk management in the healthcare and/or technology industry
- Understanding of data privacy and security laws and regulations
- Awareness of matters related to technology, cybersecurity, and software development
- Ability to:
