Job Summary
Assist Transmission Field Services (TFS) management and field personnel with the interpretation and development of safe work methods and procedures, the implementation of best practices, the development of improved work methods, improved work management systems, the utilization of technology, the development of streamlined documentation and reporting, the development of IT systems that will assist TFS, the identification of appropriate refresher training and new equipment training; and, assist with the facilitation of inter-region and inter-company information sharing meetings.Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Review work practices for consistency and recommend the integration of uniform work practices and work procedures across Transmission field services
- Assist with area work plan development and administration.
- Assist with the facilitation of inter-region and inter-company meetings to share ideas and develop uniform policies and procedures.
- Investigate the use of new tools and equipment that can enhance productivity and improve existing work methods and recommend their implementation.
- Assist with the development of refresher training and new equipment training with TFS personnel, asset management personnel, engineering personnel and new equipment manufacturers.
- Continuously work to improve and streamline data collection systems.
- Become familiar with and coordinate the development of TFS IT programs and work with asset management and IT to recommend enhancements to existing programs.
- Travel extensively through the TFS locations to stay current with existing work practices and field issues.
- Ensure that AEP policies, standards, and rules of the company and regulatory agencies are adhered to by those performing maintenance and/or construction activities.
- Assist in the development, review, and present technical reports such as studies and analysis clearly, concisely, and effectively.
- Review and develop maintenance or construction plans by establishing measurable goals and objectives based upon maintenance and construction requirements.
- Work across TFS areas to commission, maintain and troubleshoot Transmission and Distribution equipment.
- Develop knowledge to become a subject matter expert on Station, P&C, or Transmission Line issues.
- Prepare cost estimates for non-routine work, special projects, equipment maintenance projects or construction projects.
- Apply and be proficient in the use of economic analysis techniques in problem solving.

Minimum Requirements for Associate level below: (Additional requirements are needed for the coordinator level)
Education requirements are listed below:
- Associate's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related technical field and 3 years of utility field experience
- OR high school diploma or GED and 6 years of related utility field experience.
Utility field experience would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station or P&C experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful candidate must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the Niles, MI Service Center.
- Successful candidate must be willing and available outside of normal working hours due to planned and/or unplanned work requirements such as outages.
