Indiana Nephrology & Internal Medicine, P.C. is currently seeking a Medical Assistant prepared to meet the challenge of providing the best quality of patient care at our Richmond location.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for the efficient functioning of physician offices through clinical and clerical support. Demonstrates and fosters a commitment to patient satisfaction and teamwork.
Duties:
- Responsible for answering all incoming calls
- Rooming Patients (review medications, obtain vitals, ensure chats are prepped/sufficient for appointment.)
- Triage
- Welcome all patients, exhibiting excellent customer service skills
- Verify insurance & personal information with patient
- Collect co-payments, pre-payments, account balances
- Ensure that chart/patient is HIPAA compliant
- Follows established protocols to report and document diagnostic tests as directed by the physician, within the scope of their training and experience.
- Supports clinical functions to prepare patient for examination or procedure. Collects data to support the initial patient assessment including taking vital signs.
- Conducts a standardized patient interview per office protocol.
- Alerts physician to any patient complaints, especially those that are life threatening and abnormal vital signs.
- Provides patient education as directed by a physician regarding treatment, special diets, medication, follow-up diagnostic tests and healthy lifestyle information.
- Calls pharmacy refills and patient callbacks as directed by office protocol and as directed by a physician. Document all calls, correspondence and encounters with patient within established guidelines
- Performs procedures and treatments, within the scope of their training and experience, as ordered by the physician following established protocols and appropriately documents outcomes in the patient record.
- Follows established protocols in obtaining, preparation and transport of specimens for diagnostic tests as ordered by the physician and using universal precaution guidelines.
- Follows established protocols to report and document diagnostic tests as directed by the physician, within the scope of their training and experience
- Verify proper referrals are completed and documented for patient visit
- Monitor office flow to ensure patients are taken care of promptly
- Schedule follow-up appointments and any required diagnostic testing
- Medication and Radiology Authorizations, as well as Procedural Authorizations
- Data Entry, scanning and faxing
- Charting and documentation
- Travel to satellite offices
- Assists with other medical office needs, including registering patients, check-in, check out, scanning insurance cards & picture IDs into Practice Management System
- Monitors I-Remind System.
- Scanning medical records into the Acumen EHR system.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
