Indiana Tech seeks qualified applicants for the Admissions Counselor position. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Admissions and is responsible for the development and implementation of a recruitment plan within an assigned territory for our traditional undergraduate program in Fort Wayne, IN. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for higher education and a dedication to helping students navigate their academic journeys. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to connect effectively with diverse populations, including students, parents, and high school counselors. A successful Admissions Counselor will be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team and demonstrate strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

This role requires adaptability and a proactive approach to recruitment, with the ability to think creatively and execute new strategies to enhance the recruitment process. The Admissions Counselor will also need to stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in college admissions to ensure that Indiana Tech remains competitive in attracting top talent. The position demands a commitment to ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information and admissions decisions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed established enrollment goals for the assigned territory.
  • Assist the Admissions team in achieving overall enrollment goals.
  • Generate and execute new recruitment strategies for the assigned territory.
  • Conduct outreach and follow-up with qualified applicants through emails, phone calls, and texts.
  • Maintain documentation and records of student communication and outreach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors.
  • Visit high schools and participate in college fairs.
  • Meet with students and parents when they are on-campus for individual campus visits or recruitment events.
  • Advise and assist prospective students and parents through the enrollment process, including financial aid and billing.
  • Review and evaluate admissions applications and ensure accurate data in Slate CRM and Jenzabar One.
  • Support the vision and policies of Indiana Tech.
  • Participate in campus community activities.
  • Adhere to all state, and federal accreditation and Institution rules and regulations regarding student recruitment.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university is required.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with a wide variety of audiences: students, parents, and high school counselors.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines and policy and procedures.
  • Ability to adjust to changing needs and processes while anticipating challenges, identifying problems, and developing solutions

  • Travel required (must have valid driver’s license and must always be insurable to be employed and remain employed in the capacity of this job)

Experience

Two years’ work experience in a college/university admissions office preferred.

Working Conditions

Available to work evenings and weekends. Recruitment travel is necessary within the assigned territory; therefore, overnight travel will be required throughout the fall and spring months as needed. Otherwise, work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
