Assistant Director and Study Abroad Advisor (Student Programming Specialist), Kelley International Programs

Job Summary

The International Programs Office oversees a robust portfolio of semester, summer, third-party provider, exchange, internship, and faculty-led study abroad programs and provides study abroad and related academic advising support to undergraduate students at the Kelley School of Business.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of activities within the office based on their strengths and the current and changing needs of the office.
  • Assist with program promotion and recruitment and student advising students before, during, and after program participation.
  • Act as a liaison with international partner institutions and third-party providers.
  • Serve as a resource for Kelley staff and faculty.
  • Lead information sessions and pre-departure orientations.
  • Make logistical arrangements, and draft program evaluations and reports.
  • Support the broader work and activities of the International Programs Office and the Kelley Undergraduate Program.
  • Collaborate with staff in the Kelley International Programs team, within the larger Undergraduate Program, with academic and campus leaders, and with international partners and colleagues.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives geared at enhancing and reinforcing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the student experience. Project programming outcomes at the program, department / division, or campus level.
  • Interface directly with students, attending student programming events and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student programming initiatives and objectives.
  • Collaborate with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student programming goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs.
  • Measure and evaluate effectiveness of student programs against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
  • Serve on committees and perform student programming research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
  • Plan and coordinate communications and targeted outreach for student programming initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Programming Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
  • May serve on various campus or cross-functional committees to share student programming best practices.

    EDUCATION

    Required

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public affairs, counseling, business, or a related field
  • Preferred

  • Master's degree in higher education student affairs or a related field
  • WORK EXPERIENCE

    Required

  • 5 years in student services, higher education, or a related field
  • Preferred

  • Experience working, living, and / or studying abroad
  • 1 year of experience in a university setting

  • Working Conditions / Demands

    This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

    Some domestic and international travel required.

    Some evening and weekend work required.
