Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Coordinates and administers support for the Intellectual Property (IP) Clinic, the PatentConnect Program, and other outreach activities that relate to the mission of the CIPR (Center for Intellectual Property Research) at the Maurer School of Law.
- Serves as primary initial contact for internal and external constituents and fields inquiries from students, staff, faculty, applicants, attorneys and clients of IP Clinic and the PatentConnect.
- Prepares publications, correspondence, etc., related to IP Clinic and PatentConnect Program missions.
- Supports and organizes IP Clinic and PatentConnect files and documents, screens calls and correspondence, and directs communication appropriately.
- Manages and administers the PatentConnect client database.
- Provides support for IP Clinic Faculty Director by performing administrative tasks for IP Clinic involving course syllabi, tests, publications, briefs, correspondence, and other materials.
- Oversees docketing and monitoring of the IP Clinic patent and trademark applications filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office and PatentConnect submissions.
- Arranges travel, itineraries, and completes and files travel / reimbursement documentation for trips relating to the IP Clinic, the PatentConnect, and the International Patent Drafting competition.
- Builds and maintains relationships with students to create a welcoming, safe, and comfortable atmosphere.
- Provides administrative support and guidance for students associated with International Patent Drafting competition, IP Clinic, and the IP pro bono project as well as for PatentConnect clients, partners, and volunteering attorneys.
- May travel with student teams to trial court competitions.
- Actively participates with students at CIPR events and activities and prepares and administers presentations as needed.
- Plans and executes event planning activities and logistical support for CIPR events, especially those connected to the IP Clinic and the PatentConnect. Organizes events and programming that advance center, clinic, and law school goals by creating communication materials, reserving rooms, ordering food, obtaining visitor parking, and securing authorization from panelists to be video-recorded.
- Researches and initiates contacts with internal and external organizations serving the entrepreneurial community in Indiana and Kentucky.
- Provides administrative support for the S. Jay Plager Indianapolis Intellectual Property Inn of Court, including maintaining the Inn's membership rolls, overseeing RSVPs for meetings, and securing CLE approval for meetings.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
