Job Summary
The Director for Policy Engagement and Strategic Partnerships is a member of the senior staff team at the Hamilton Lugar School (HLS), reporting to the Dean of HLS. The Director's goal is to cultivate a comprehensive and dynamic environment that fosters student success and expands institutional opportunities in international affairs.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Develops and implements strategies to boost HLS engagement and visibility within the community of international policy practitioners, working closely with the Dean and Associate and Assistant Deans and senior staff.
- Establishes, builds, and maintains partnerships with external organizations, including government agencies, NGOs, businesses, and other educational institutions.
- Collaborates with HLS senior leadership to align partnership initiatives with the institution's strategic goals and enhance the practical and professional offerings of the school.
- Represents HLS to a variety of external partners to facilitate communication, institutional partnerships, programmatic activities and student research and employment opportunities.
- Engages in grant writing and fundraising to support policy engagement and experiential learning programs.
- Leads HLS staff engagement with the schools D.C stakeholders.
- Facilitates HLS connections to current policy topics and discussion with government agencies, legislators and other stakeholders.
- Leads and manges a small staff team devoted to policy engagement and strategic partnerships.
- Serves as the HLS staff lead for the Master of International Affairs program with the O'Neil School of Public and Environmental Affairs and help develop other policy relevant academic programs.
- Manages and grows the HLS Global Leaders Forum in Washington D.C. ensuring its continued success and expansions.
- Creates and manages opportunities for students to participate in field specific internships, fellowships, and projects with external partners.
- Works with faculty to develop and expand co-curricular professional opportunities, ensuring alignment with curricular goals and enhancing student learning experiences.
Designs, implements, and as appropriate, leads other policy-related programs and initiatives, such as policy labs, workshops, short-courses, and seminars, that engage students and faculty in developing practical and professional skills relevant to international affairs.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
