Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive career advising to students, supports their academic and professional development.
• Manages and maintains career services systems and databases.
• Engages collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and other university stakeholders to exchange information, address concerns, and support student success.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates career development programs, resources, and events that align with students' individual goals and institutional priorities, while ensuring compliance with university policies and relevant regulations.
  
  

General Responsibilities

• Assists with professional and career development of students and alumni through career assessments, exploration, decision-making, goal setting, and planning. Focuses efforts on resume building, interview skill development, mock interview, and job search preparation and navigation; graduate school application and interview preparation through counseling appointments and consultations.
• Develops and delivers workshops on career development which include networking strategies, interviewing, resume and cover letter writing skills, portfolio development, and using the internet for career search.
• Supports faculty and students with career exploration, internships, job shadow experiences, presentations, and facilitation of resources available for career development.
• Serves on various community and institutional committees to build partnerships across the university and among comparable universities to build knowledge base.
• Assists in the process of collecting and tracking data for office assessment purposes. Utilizes data to assist in the creation of office objectives and goals to meet the needs of the student population.
• May provide guidance and delegate administrative tasks to other career services staff.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
