Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Operational Excellence leadership team in the role of Director Operational Excellence - System.
The Director Operational Excellence System leads and manages Indiana University Health's Operational Excellence work by leading projects that address strategic priorities and through the recruitment and development of the Operational Excellence teams. This leader plans, implements, evaluates, facilitates, and continuously improves the performance of IU Health across the system and acts as a liaison, coach, and is responsible for developing technical capability at each region. The Director will lead multiple community of practice groups across the system, co-chair the development of all operational excellence training material, will certify trainers, and co-chair the Operational Excellence Council. The Director Operational Excellence System uses process improvement, six sigma, change management (ADKAR), project management, and analytical methodologies to drive improvements in IU Health's quality and safety strategic plan, patient experience, and financial goals. This leader works collaboratively with physicians, local and system leadership, finance, business units, and personnel across the facility(s)/regions to execute these projects and proactively pursues opportunities for improvement and drives the performance hub to meet or exceed Promise Dashboard and strategic goals. They are accountable for developing effective practitioners and training their local leadership in effective performance improvement methods. This leader is responsible for the efficient and purposeful integration of services with other areas and emerging delivery models to achieve high reliability.

Candidate Qualifications
Candidates for the position will be selected from a diverse pool and will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.
- Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
- Requires 10 years of relevant experience.
- Requires 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Proven track record of driving quantifiable improvements in a complex matric organization is required.
- Experience in leading a multi-site/lean six sigma implementation required.
- Must have a track record of developing project plans/road maps for implementation that span across multiples sites.
- Must have a track record of delivering strong process improvement results in large, complex projects that span across multiples sites.
- Project management experience required.
- Understands theory and has demonstrated application of change management fundamentals is preferred.
- Operations experience preferred; healthcare or manufacturing experience desired.
- Experience with VSM/VSA, High Reliability Organization (HRO), SIPOC, DMAIC, is preferred.
- Additional experience in the following is desired; Scientific thinking, operating systems, Training w/in Industry (TWI), 3P, various problem-solving tools, system thinking, Just Culture, and FMEA.
- Process Improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) certification preferred; Blackbelt certification desired.
- Requires basic proficiency in MS Office.
