Responsibilities:
- ·Performs advanced dental care services in a clinical setting, at the direction of a Dentist
- Prioritizes patient care based on resources, unit volume, and patient prognosis
- Facilitates smooth patient flow, provides patient education/teaching, explains insurance coverage/co-pays, and assures necessary documents are complete
- Assists dentist/hygienist as directed and performs advanced expanded functions assisting techniques, places restorations and fits bands/brackets/appliances
- Obtains diagnostic dental x-rays using safe radiology process.
- Uses advanced behavior management techniques to support safe and effective care with uncooperative patients
- Performs administrative and registration duties, schedules patient visits, and engages in patient correspondence
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- BLS-CPR certification required.
- Dental Radiology License in Indiana required.
- Certification in Expanded Function Dental Assisting from and accredited program or on the job training with minimum of 5 years experience in Dental Assisting required.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English required.
- Certification in Caries Prevention and Coronal Polishing Preferred.
- Requires the ability to demonstrate and foster diversity and inclusion skills.
- Requires excellent skills in handling apprehensive or difficult to manage children.
- Requires the ability to work with medically, physically, and/or cognitively compromised patients.
- Requires the ability to treat patients with special health needs, cognitive needs, and/or those with extreme dental fear.
