We are looking for a full-time Occupational Therapist to join our team! This 1.0 FTE will be a rotating position, providing strong clinical support at both Methodist and University Hospitals. Hired team members have the opportunity to work a variety of schedules including Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday, and/or Sunday-Thursday. Alternate schedules may also be discussed (for example, 4 – 10 hour days). Occasional weekend availability is also required.
This work setting is multidisciplinary acute care, where collaboration is a must. We have several physical therapists that support our five adult acute care service lines: Neuro/Ortho/Trauma, Cardiopulmonary, Transplant/Oncology, Medical, and Multi-Specialty Surgical. Our team members have a wide range of experience, education, and skills. Ongoing education and skill development are emphasized and encouraged. We see a wide variety of patient diagnosis with opportunity to step outside your comfort zone – learn something new every day!
This individual will (1) Evaluate, diagnose, and treat adult acute care patients with physical and psychological dysfunctions, (2) Appropriately recommend discharge disposition to next level of care (3) Provide direct patient care using a variety of sensorimotor, functional, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients regain physical or mental functioning (4) Supervise occupational therapy assistants, support personnel and students (5) Participate in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.
Clinical experience is preferred in the following areas: Acute care occupational therapy. Strong candidates will have previous acute care experience and independence evaluating and treating patients with the goal of reaching maximum performance with activities of daily living and cognitive function.
