We are looking for a PRN Occupational Therapist to join our team! This work setting is multidisciplinary acute care, where collaboration is a must. We have several occupational therapists that support our five adult acute care service lines: Neuro/Ortho/Trauma, Cardiopulmonary, Transplant/Oncology, Medical, and Multi-Specialty Surgical. Our team members have a wide range of experience, education, and skills. Ongoing education and skill development are emphasized and encouraged. This individual will (1) Evaluate, diagnose, and treat adult acute care patients with physical and psychological dysfunctions, (2) Appropriately recommend discharge disposition to next level of care (3) Provide direct patient care using a variety of sensorimotor, functional, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients regain physical or mental functioning (4) Supervise occupational therapy assistants, support personnel and students (5) Participate in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 1-year experience. Clinical experience is preferred in the following areas: Acute care occupational therapy. Strong candidates will have independence with critically ill patients in an ICU setting and previous acute care experience.
This is a PRN position. This position could have weekday or weekend shifts. Minimum expectation to meet department need is 2 shifts per month. Strong candidates will have availability beyond expectation, including ability to provide support on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Increased shift opportunities for candidates able to support both Methodist and University Hospitals.
* Requires graduation from an accredited academic program in occupational therapy, or if foreign trained, graduation from an occupational therapy education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA. Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred. Requires current license in the State of Indiana. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
