The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research conducts basic science and translational research within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. The Wells Center houses more than 300 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees seeking answers to the most pressing questions related to childhood illness.
With the collaboration between scientists and physicians, the center aims to increase knowledge of causes and mechanisms of serious pediatric diseases. Our goal is to develop innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sick children in Indiana and beyond.
The Herman B Wells Center is searching for a customer-oriented and organized front desk receptionist to join our team. This position is the front-line representative for the Wells Center and the first point of contact for visitors and guests when they enter the building.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Greet and direct guests, provide assistance with events and meetings
- Receive and sort mail and packages
- Work with vendors on deliveries
- Provide light administrative support
- Order basic office supplies, resupply hospitality items, stock copiers
- Reserve and maintain conference rooms and associate calendars
- Receive incoming calls
- Maintain listservs
- Prepare correspondence and answer e-mails
- Provide support on mailing/shipping with USPS, FedEx, and UPS
- Provide administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
- Utilize business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
- Receive, screen, and direct incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email
- Schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements
- Assist the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
