The Director of Assessment and Accreditation is responsible for the development and management of systematic assessment and accreditation processes for planning and improving the institution's operations, programs, and services. The Director supports the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Effectiveness/Accreditation Liaison Officer in developing and executing a strategic vision and plan for program review, academic, co-curricular, and operations assessment, institutional and programmatic accreditation, and advancing the culture of assessment.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains advanced working knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation guidelines, policies, and requirements.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and maintain institutional policies and best practices required by the Higher Learning Commission and other state and federal agencies.
- Provides consultation and support of program accreditation efforts to ensure alignment and institutional effectiveness.
- Collaborates with Institutional Analytics in the preparation, analysis, and dissemination of relevant data to deans, department chairs, and other stakeholders in Academic Affairs to enhance educational effectiveness.
- Supports academic program and co-curricular assessment initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Assists the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Effectiveness/Accreditation Liaison Officer to oversee the development of all Higher Learning Commission-related reports and activities including Institutional Updates, Substantive Change requests, Comprehensive Evaluation documents, and related site visits.
- Attends Higher Learning Commission conferences, professional meetings, and professional development opportunities to maintain or enhance competencies; shares updates and makes recommendations to adjust policy and procedure where necessary.
- Provides support to accredited programs in organizing and maintaining review documents and schedules and assists in the preparation of evaluation documents as needed.
- Collaborates with Program Review and Assessment Committee (PRAC) chair, co-chair, and members to support monthly meeting preparation, organization and maintenance of annual assessment reports, and the development and submission of annual reports.
- Provides support and guidance for Program Review activities in the development of self-study documents, coordination and completion of program review, and follows up with recommendations that are made by external reviewers.
- Collaborates with Institutional Analytics in the preparation, analysis, and dissemination of relevant data to constituent groups in Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and external accreditors.
- In coordination with campus-level educational leadership and other accreditation specialists, facilitates and manages the multiple facets related to Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation and administrator review.
- Collaborates with campus faculty and staff across the university to seek information and data necessary to document accreditation compliance.
- Consolidates and organizes relevant, data, information, and policies from institutional sources.
- Monitors and understands HLC accreditation requirements, including pending and final changes to HLC standards, reporting requirements, and policies.
- May provide recommendations to campus leadership on enterprise effectiveness and accreditation, and necessary institutional changes to maintain compliance, when needed.
EDUCATION
Required
- Master's degree in English, library sciences, history, or similar humanities disciplines or Higher Education
