- Monitors animals' responses to anesthetics.
- Responds appropriately to anesthetic changes with appropriate knowledge of drugs and medical interventions.
- Performs euthanasia to animals according to AVMA Guidelines, under the direction of a veterinarian and other regulations, policies, or guidelines, and monitor animals' responses to anesthetics so that dosages can be adjusted.
- Executes prompt examination of animals reported with health problems.
- Adheres to all appropriate SOPs, Research Compliance directives, accreditation standards, regulations and laws.
- Maintains accurate record keeping with electronic or paper medical records.
- Develops excellent veterinary technician skills.
- Maintains controlled substance inventory and related log books.
EDUCATION
Required
- Associate's degree in veterinary technology, biology, animal science, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 1 year of animal care experience
Preferred
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) within 1 year from date of hire
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) upon date of hire
