Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Research Laboratory Manager in the laboratory of Dr. Stephanie Hurwitz at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. The Hurwitz lab focuses on understanding mechanisms that guide hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) homing and egress to and from the bone marrow. In particular, the lab is interested in the roles of nano-sized, secreted extracellular vesicles in mediating cell-cell crosstalk between HSCs and bone marrow niche cells. The overarching goal of the Hurwitz lab is to better understand and improve outcomes for patients undergoing HSC transplantation. The Research Laboratory Manager will be responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring laboratory safety, managing research projects, and developing research and development (R&D) initiatives. The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to several projects resulting in co-authorship on papers.
Duties
- Manage core operations of the research laboratory with direct oversight by Dr. Hurwitz
- Perform a variety of laboratory assays including cell culture, flow cytometry, western blotting, PCR, and microscopy
- Mouse husbandry
- Assist in laboratory ordering, regulatory protocols, and new personnel training
