Department Information
The Friends of Art Shop supports faculty and student initiatives that enhance the quality of the educational experience in the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture Design at IU Bloomington. The Shop is a point of contact for Eskenazi School students, faculty and visitors, and provides resources and learning opportunities to promote the mission of the school.
Job Summary
The Store Assistant should have the knowledge, experience, and customer service skills to assist the customers with their questions and needs.
- Assists customers
- Accepts payments/ processes financial transactions for the Friends of Art Shop
- Assists Bookshop Manager in daily business processes of the Friends of Art Shop
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as GED or HSED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Retail experience or office experience
SKILLS
Required
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Thorough and dependable
- Excellent organization skills
Preferred
- Familiarity with art supplies
- Customer service skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer, computer systems, and other standard office productivity equipment, including credit card terminals. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around a retail store environment. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Hours
20 to 24 hours per week
This position will follow the academic calendar and will not be needed over winter, spring or summer break.
