Required Professional Qualities
It is expected that the Substitute Teacher will possess:
- A valid and current Substitute Teacher permit
- Some college-48 credit hours
- Bachelor's degree in education preferred

Essential Job Functions - Accountabilities
It is expected that the Substitute Teachers will:
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
- Take attendance and document daily notes.
- Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan
- Compile a report for the teacher for when they return
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in an emergency.
