Job Summary:
Assist with all financial matters for the Indianapolis Indians by maintaining general ledgers, trial balances, financial statements, balance sheets while also contributing to the everyday business operation of the organization
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate all aspects of team travel including, but not limited to, arranging air/ bus travel, hotel rates for Indians use and visiting teams, airport transfers, equipment transfers, meal money, trainer advance money, and itinerary preparation
- Maintain all financial records which include, but are not limited to, bank accounts, payables, receivables, ledgers, investment transactions, cash disbursements, and cash receipts
- Execute tax compliance and payments which includes, but is not limited to, monthly sales and use tax, county admissions tax, property tax and federal and state income taxes
- Create and apply fiscal controls and procedures for company’s accounting practices
- Responsible for managing and tracking all accounts receivable
- Prepare annual, concessionaire, and revenue reports
- Prepare Minor League Baseball attendance, revenue, and financial reports
- Prepare and execute all bank deposits
- Track concession sales throughout the year to reconcile their data and identify commission thresholds
- Track all income and expense for all outside events; monitor picnic cash flow and net reservation income
- Report cash flow status monthly
- Verify daily attendance figures in coordination with the ticket department
Other Duties:
- Assist Business Operations department with year-end financial audit
- Maintain a complete file of all signed contracts
- Assist Business Operations Manager with semi-monthly payroll services and maintain compliance on all payroll taxes
- Assist in administering all aspects of 401(k) investment program
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with an emphasis on Business Administration/Accounting and at least 1-2 years related experience, preferably in a sports environment.
Skills & Abilities:
- Conduct oneself with integrity and maintain confidentiality when required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to learn new software applications
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Self-starter, with a strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
- Confident and dynamic personality with strong customer service skills
- Ability to work non-traditional hours which may include up to 14 hours/day and up to 80 hours/week
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus structure (when eligible)
