FACILITY OVERVIEW:

Brickyard Crossing Golf Course is a Pete Dye designed 18-hole public facility located in Indianapolis. With 4 holes located inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Brickyard Crossing is one of the most unique golf facilities in the world. The current 18-hole layout opened in 1994 and has hosted PGA Champions Tour events as well as the LPGA Indy Women in Tech Championship from 2017-2019. Previous layouts hosted the PGA Tour’s 500 Festival Open in the 1960’s.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Golf Shop Assistant will support the management of daily golf operations including guest check in, assisting with merchandising functions, and providing other professional services to ensure an exceptional golf experience.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:  

  • Provide excellent customer service and assistance to all members, guests, and IMS partners.
  • Take tee times and collect fees from customers at point-of-sale.
  • Be outgoing and personable; create a welcoming environment for members and guests. 
  • Assist in the receipt, display, inventory, promotion, and sales of merchandise.
  • Be informed on and promote all club activities and services.
  • Assist in managing tournaments and outings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • N/A

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or interest in pursuing PGM

Skills/Experience

  • Thorough knowledge of general business administration practices and professional golf operations practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices necessary
  • Interest in starting (or have started) PGA Program preferred. 
  • Previous experience at high end public or private facility preferred.
  • Commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and commitment to cultural competency.
  • Ability to uphold and consistently demonstrate the Penske Entertainment Standards.

Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility

  • Weekends required while in season (April-October)
  • Longer hours and weekends may be required for the Month of May and other major racing events
  • Penske Entertainment acknowledges that the need for flexibility varies across all companies/departments and is not best addressed by a one size fits all flexible work policy. As such, the company encourages supervisors to work with their employees to leverage flexibility as needed to support a healthy balance
