What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Teacher position at Indianapolis Public Schools?
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Certified by the State of Indiana Department of
Education in Art Education. Must be certified for the age level of classes taught. Experience in
working with emotionally disturbed or cognitively disabled individuals is preferred.
POSITION PHILOSOPHY: Develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Teach knowledge and skills of various techniques and principles of art and art history.

- 1. Develop daily lesson plans related art and art history based individual student needs.
- 2. Plans, provides and supervises developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques.
- 3. Develops and is prepared to implement virtual art education services remotely based on individual and school need.
- 4. Ensures that classroom activities are conducive to students' development of independence, competence and ability levels.
- 5. Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth development of all students.
- 6. Develop students' drawing, coloring and painting techniques.
- 7. Encourage creativity and self-expression among students..
- 8. Ensure that the environment is clean, sage and constructive for all students.
- 9. Demonstrates continued effort to improve teaching competencies per changing student needs.
- 10. Updates Progress Reports in accordance with the trimester or quarterly marking period schedule (i.e. goals met, percent, trials, etc.).
