Summary
The Maintenance and Athletic Grounds Keeper plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, aesthetics, and functionality of our school's facilities and athletic grounds. This position demands a blend of technical skills, physical endurance, and a proactive approach to maintaining a pristine and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance
- Mowing, trimming, and edging lawns and green spaces
- Fertilizing, aerating, and seeding turf areas
- Weeding, mulching, and maintaining flower beds and landscaped areas
- Pruning trees and shrubs
- Removing litter and debris
- Managing irrigation systems
- Clearing snow and ice from walkways and parking lots
- Preparing and lining athletic fields for games and practices
- Mowing, aerating, and topdressing playing surfaces
- Repairing divots and damaged areas
- Maintaining irrigation systems for optimal field conditions
- Installing and maintaining goal posts, nets, and other athletic equipment
- Pool Maintenance (Daily checks)
- Painting and repairing buildings, fences, and other structures
- Performing minor plumbing and electrical repairs
- Replacing light bulbs and fixtures
- Cleaning and maintaining gutters and downspouts
- Assisting with HVAC and other mechanical system maintenance
- Operating and maintaining lawnmowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and other groundskeeping equipment
- Sharpening and repairing tools and equipment
- Ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and materials
- Ensuring proper storage and security of equipment and supplies
- Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Reporting safety hazards and incidents
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Complying with all environmental regulations and guidelines
- Assisting with set-up and tear-down for special events
- Supporting other maintenance staff as needed
- Performing other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in groundskeeping/maintenance or related field
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- CPO Certified Pool Operator or willing to get certified
