JOB TITLE: Substitute Bus Driver
TYPE OF POSITION: Classified
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
POSITION PURPOSE: Transports students and at times related school personnel, and performs other transportation related duties as follows on a substitute basis:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The noise -level in the work environment is usually moderate.
There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.

JOB TITLE: Substitute Bus Driver

POSITION PURPOSE: Transports students and at times related school personnel, and performs other transportation related duties as follows on a substitute basis:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Assists student and other passengers to enter and leave vehicle.
- Makes overnight drives and extended trips requiring irregular hours as required.
- Keeps vehicle clean, polished, and in operating condition.
- Makes arrangements for needed service and mechanical repairs.
- Maintains order and discipline among the children transported.
- Operates the assigned bus on the scheduled routes on the time schedule fixed by the employer.
- Fills the bus with fuel as authorized; checks and adds oil as needed; checks the lights, tires, and other parts of the bus on a regular basis to be sure they are in safe operating condition.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School diploma.
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students and parents.
- Skills in human relations.
- Ability to plan and organize, good work habits.
- Possess a valid state commercial driver's license.
- Perform the School Bus Driver performance standards for Wawasee Community School Corporation.
- Other qualifications that the School Board may require.
