JOB TITLE: Substitute Bus Monitor
TYPE OF POSITION: Classified
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
POSITION PURPOSE: To assist the bus driver in coordinating safe transportation of all students to and from school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To provide direct supervision of students on the bus. Assist with wheelchairs; lock them in place.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to plan and organize.
Skills in human relations.
Other Qualifications As Deemed Desirable By The School Board.

JOB TITLE: Substitute Bus Monitor

POSITION PURPOSE: To assist the bus driver in coordinating safe transportation of all students to and from school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To provide direct supervision of students on the bus. Assist with wheelchairs; lock them in place.
- Monitors students while on bus; maintains safety and order on the bus, ensures students wear seatbelts; provides first aid to ill or injured students.
- Assists with the loading and unloading of students on/off the bus; provides special assistance to students in wheelchairs, including operating the lift and strapping and securing wheelchairs on vehicles.
- Maintains cleanliness of the bus by sweeping and removing trash items from the bus interior.
- Assists bus drivers with routes, directions and while the vehicle is driving in reverse.
- Provides assistance during emergencies, evacuation planning and drills; provides knowledge and operates emergency window exits.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
